How to Choose Coffee Tables
Size. As a guide, coffee tables should be about two thirds the length of the sofa. In addition, keep 16–18 inches (40–45 cm) between the table and the seat.
Height. The top should sit at or just below seat height. As a result, it is easy to reach from the sofa.
Materials. Marble and stone are durable and dramatic, although they are heavy. Wood and lacquer, by contrast, are warmer and easier to move. Glass keeps a small room light.
