How to Choose Floor Lamps

For reading. The bottom of the shade should sit at about shoulder height when seated. As a result, light falls on the page, not in your eyes.

For ambience. Uplighters and tall silk floor lamps wash the ceiling with soft light, which makes a room feel larger.

Placement. Place floor lamps behind or beside seating, never in walkways. In addition, check the position of the nearest outlet.
