How to Choose Console Tables
Depth. In a hallway, console tables of 12–16 inches (30–40 cm) deep leave room to walk. On the other hand, behind a sofa you can choose a deeper model.
Height. Most consoles are 30–34 inches (75–85 cm) high. Behind a sofa, however, the top should be at or just below the sofa back.
Styling. A mirror or artwork above, a pair of lamps and a bowl for keys turn a console into a focal point.
