interior design philosophy
Passerini approaches interior design as a continuation of architecture. Each project is developed in full, from spatial planning and interior architecture to material definition, furnishing, and final installation. The work is carried through with continuity, from initial concept to completion.
Projects begin with an analysis of the property’s proportions, light, structure, and underlying architectural language. From this foundation, the design develops through considered intervention, establishing clarity, balance, and coherence so that the interior reads as a complete and resolved whole.
Born in Italy and shaped by a European design foundation, Sophia Passerini has developed an international practice working across Europe, the United States, and beyond. Long-standing relationships with Italian artisans and manufacturers inform the work, allowing for a level of material precision, consistency, and control integral to each project.
approach
Each project is developed as an integrated composition. Interior architecture and decoration are considered together, allowing planning, materials, and furnishing to evolve in parallel. Early stages focus on layout, circulation, and proportion, forming the framework for all subsequent decisions.
Materials are selected for their integrity, longevity, and appropriateness to the architecture. Furnishings and bespoke elements are designed or specified in direct relation to the space, ensuring consistency between fixed and movable components.
Lighting is a central element of the work. It is used to shape the overall character of the interior and is developed through careful analysis of the space to achieve the required performance. Collaboration with European artisans, manufacturers, and specialist suppliers—many engaged over a number of years—allows for continuity in both development and execution.
scope of work
Each commission is developed as a complete design process, from spatial planning and interior architecture through to furnishing, procurement, and final installation.
The scope includes the development of layouts, material definition, bespoke elements, lighting, and the specification and sourcing of all furnishings and components required for the interior.
All phases are managed within a single framework, ensuring continuity between design intent and execution.
implementation
Execution is managed with precision and continuity. Detailed design information is developed and coordinated with architects, consultants, and contractors. Procurement and implementation are overseen within a single framework, ensuring alignment with the design intent.
Bespoke components and furnishings are commissioned through established workshops and integrated as part of the overall scheme. Installation is carried out with attention to proportion, sequencing, and finish, bringing the interior to a resolved state.
Commissions are undertaken on a selective basis. Enquiries are considered privately.
